Maruti Suzuki is the largest car manufacturer in India and Swift is one of the most popular models sold by the brand. The current generation Swift hatchback was launched in the country, a few years ago and has been doing great in terms of numbers. Swift is a popular vehicle among families and young buyers because of its design and fuel efficiency. It is a popular vehicle in the modifying circle and we have seen several tastefully modified Swifts in the past. Here we have a rendered image that reimagines regular Swift hatchback as a cross hatchback.
The images have been shared by IAB on their website. Currently we have Ford is the only manufacturer in the country to offer a cross hatchback in the form of Freestyle. Earlier, Volkswagen Polo, Toyota Etio Liva, Hyundai Elite i20 all had cross hatch versions in the Indian market. Over a period of time, these models were discontinued due to low demand and new emission norms. The Swift Cross hatchback is actually something that artist has imagined on his own and Maruti does not have any plan to launch such a version anytime soon.
The cross hatchback version of the Swift is similar to the regular version with minor tweaks here and there. The cross hatchback version of the Swift is meant to look a bit more rugged than the regular version. In order achieve that rugged feel, the artist has added thick black claddings to the lower part of the car. The front bumper gets a silver skid at the bottom too. The headlights get a smoked effect and the chrome on the front grille has been removed too.
Moving to the side profile, the wheel arches, lower part of the door all get black cladding and the crossover version gets different type of alloys too. The whole car gets a dual tone paint job and a roof rail is also included to improve the rugged look of the car. Similar sort of changes are expected at the rear as well.
Currently, Swift is available with a BS6 compliant petrol engine. The diesel version was discontinued during the BS6 transition and the petrol version is powered by a naturally aspirated 1.2 litre unit generating 83 Ps and 113 Nm of torque. It is available with manual and AMT gearbox options.
